What happened?

Pick the closest one. You get what to do right now, what we'll need from you, and — when it applies — why calling us might not be your cheapest move.

Which one is you?
Is anyone — or any pet — inside the car right now?

Step 1 of 3

This guide is general information about how automotive key work usually goes. It is not a diagnosis of your vehicle and it is not a quote. The only way to know what your car needs is to tell us the year, make and model on the phone.

Services

Keys and remotes for all makes and models.

Car computer or module for programming and reprogramming

Specialized service

Car Computer & Module Programming

Ask on WhatsApp

Which key does your car use?

Knowing the name before you call saves both of us ten minutes. Pick the one that looks like yours.

Still not sure? Take a photo of your key and describe it when you call — that works too.

Prices are valid only for the key type shown and for the make, model and year listed. Promotional prices include programming and do not include taxes. A sample key and an appointment are required for programming. For any other key or vehicle, call first and visit the shop for evaluation and a final quote.

100% Money-Back Guarantee on Parts*

*Applies only to the amount paid for the part. Labor, programming, diagnostic, and other service fees are non-refundable. Terms apply.

Because programming is included in the promotional price, your receipt itemizes the part, the programming and labor, and the taxes separately — so the refundable amount is clear.

Get a key quote

Three questions. If your car matches one of the published offers you'll see the price and its conditions; if it doesn't, this builds your WhatsApp message for you.

What do you need?
What make is the vehicle?
What year and model is it?

The model is optional. The year is what tells us whether a published offer applies.

Step 1 of 3

A published price applies only when the key type matches the one shown on that card. Anything else is quoted after we see the vehicle: call first and visit the shop, and the final quote is confirmed there.

How it goes

Four cuts, like a key. From what you need to a confirmed appointment.

  1. Pick what you need

A copy, a lost key, an opening, a repair, or computer and module programming.

  2. If it matches an offer, you see the price

The published price applies when the make, model year and key type all match the card. Its conditions are right there with it.

  3. If it doesn't, you send us the details

Tap "Get a key quote" and share the make, model, year and a photo of your key on WhatsApp.

  4. Dandy confirms the appointment

Programming happens at the shop, with the car there. When a case needs it, the final quote is confirmed in person before any work starts.

Service area

The shop is in Houston, Texas, and the work is done here by appointment. Message on WhatsApp and we'll tell you straight whether we can help where you are.

Why call here instead of the dealer

  • This is the whole job, not a side job

Vehicle keys, remotes and access. Not a hardware counter that also does cars when someone asks.

  • You talk to whoever does the work

No service advisor in between, no ticket number, no "we'll call you back."

  • Modern keys, not just old ones

Chip, transponder, proximity and push-to-start — the kinds of keys that used to mean a tow to the dealership.

  • Straight about what we can't do

A few vehicles genuinely need factory tooling or a manufacturer PIN. You'll hear that before you spend anything, not after.

The work

Keys, remotes and the kind of night this job usually happens on.

  • Two modern car keys resting on a leather car seat
Proximity fobs — the kind that used to mean a trip to the dealer
  • A key sitting in a car ignition cylinder, lit from one side in near darkness
Ignition cylinders — where broken keys usually end up
  • An open hand holding a car key fob with its keyring
Handing back a key that works — the end of every job
  • A hand pressing a remote in front of a white car with its lights on
Testing lock, unlock and trunk before we call it done
  • Rear of a dark car with its tail lights on at dusk
Late calls are normal in this trade
  • Amber-lit headlight and fender of a modern car against black
    Newer vehicles, newer key systems

Hours and availability

WhatsApp is available 24/7. Work on the vehicle happens at the shop, by appointment.

  • Writing at 3 a.m.

Go ahead — WhatsApp is open around the clock. Send the make, model, year and a photo of your key and you'll have an answer waiting.

  • Why an appointment

Programming needs the vehicle here, and a sample key when the special pricing applies. Booking first is what keeps the promotional price from turning into a diagnostic fee.

  • Guarantee on parts

100% money back on the part. Labor, programming and diagnostic fees are not refundable, and the receipt itemizes each one so the refundable amount is clear.

Home and business locks

Secondary to the vehicle work, and listed here only as a possibility. Ask on the phone before you count on any of it.

  • Residential lock change and installation
  • Rekeying residential or commercial locks
  • Lock repair
  • House and business lockouts
  • Safe service
  • Mobile or emergency service

Questions people actually ask

What exactly do you do?

Six things, all on vehicles. Lost keys: a replacement when there is no copy left to work from. Copies and spare keys: duplicates and additional keys cut from one that works. Keys locked in the car: opening the vehicle when the keys were left inside. Lock repair: automotive lock diagnosis and repair. Ignition cylinders: repair of the cylinder the key turns. And car computer and module programming: specialized automotive diagnostics, programming and reprogramming. Keys and remotes for all makes and models.

Do the special prices apply to my car?

Only if all three match: the make, the model year range, and the key type shown on that card. Being inside the year range is not enough on its own — a 2011 Honda with a different key than the one pictured is a different job. The promotional prices include programming and do not include taxes, and they require a sample key and an appointment. Anything else is quoted after we see the vehicle.

What does the 100% money-back guarantee on parts cover?

The amount you paid for the part, in full. Labor, programming, diagnostic and other service fees are not refundable, and terms apply. Because programming is included in the promotional price, the receipt itemizes the part, the programming and labor, and the taxes separately — so there is no argument later about which line the refund covers.

Can you make a key if I lost every single one?

Usually, yes — that is a normal part of this trade. It costs more than a copy because the vehicle has to be programmed from scratch instead of cloned from a working key, and it takes longer. Some late-model vehicles are the exception; you'll hear that on the call.

What do I need to prove the car is mine?

Photo ID plus something that ties you to the vehicle: title, current registration, or insurance in your name. If the car is in someone else's name, that person needs to be there or reachable. No legitimate locksmith skips this step.

My remote stopped working. Is it broken?

Try a fresh battery first — most fobs take a CR2032 coin cell and it's a few dollars at any pharmacy. If the buttons still do nothing after that, then it's worth a call. We'd rather you spend three dollars than a hundred.

Is this cheaper than going to the dealership?

For most vehicles it is, mainly because you skip the tow and the shop time. We are not going to print a percentage on a website, though — the honest answer depends on your exact vehicle, and you get it on the phone.

Do you speak Spanish?

Sí. Se habla español, y este sitio completo está en los dos idiomas — usa el botón EN / ES arriba.

Can you open my car without damaging it?

That's the job. Modern doors have side airbags and wiring in the panel, which is exactly why a coat hanger from a video is a bad idea — the cheap fix often turns into a body shop bill.

My insurance has roadside assistance. Should I use it?

Check it first, honestly. A lockout is often covered at no cost to you, and it costs you nothing to look at the card. If it's not covered, or the wait is unreasonable, then call.

What are your hours?

WhatsApp is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week — that is the fastest way to reach us at any hour. Work on the vehicle happens at the shop, at 6703 Alder Dr, and always by appointment, because programming needs the car here.
